Recall Plan

NOTE: I received this notification from ElliptiGO on November 15, 2013.

Dear ElliptiGO Customer,

We have some good news. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has been working diligently with us and we are thrilled to report that they approved our proposed solutions for both the fork and drive arms yesterday. That approval is by far the most important step in the process with the CPSC. As a result, it looks like the voluntary recall will be officially announced next Thursday, November 21st, at which time you will be able to start scheduling your repairs with a local repair facility. That is less than a week away, so we are very happy about that.

Once the recall is announced next week, we’ll publish a press release, post it on Facebook and Twitter, add a link to our homepage and send you an email. At that point, the “recall” page on our website will go live so you can select your repair facility and schedule an appointment to get your ElliptiGO repaired. Not all dealers will be repair facilities and we are adding extra repair centers that are not dealers, so it’s imperative that you identify and select your repair center through the recall website. Scheduling an appointment with your repair center after the recall is announced next week is the next step in the process and should minimize the hassle on your end as most repair centers will not be able to accommodate walk-ins. Please do not bring your ElliptiGO to your local dealer until you have scheduled your appointment, since your local dealer might not be a repair facility.

We understand that even with the additional repair centers, there is a chance that we will not have established one that is convenient for you. Fortunately, any trained bicycle technician will be able to perform the repairs. If there is no repair center near you, we’ll be notified through the recall website process so we can work to find one that is convenient. If you know that you live in an area that’s far away from our nearest dealer and you have a bike shop that you already work with, please send an email to info@elliptigo.com with their contact info so we can reach out to them about the repairs.

Once again, we sincerely apologize for these issues and the frustration of not being able to ride your ElliptiGO for the past month. We know that the ElliptiGO is an expensive investment in your health and that not being able to use it can be extremely disruptive to an exercise routine. We’re very sorry about the situation and will continue to work as hard as we can to get you up and riding again as soon as possible. If you have any questions about next steps, please contact us at info@elliptigo.comor (858) 876-8677. If you’d prefer to speak with one of our co-founders, please feel free to call Bryan Pate directly at (650) 575-3070.

Thanks very much for your patience throughout this process and we’ll look forward to getting your repairs scheduled next week.

Sincerely,

The ElliptiGO Team
